THE STRATEGIC DEVELOPMENT FRAMEWORK - A VISION FOR SCUNTHORPE

Vision for Scun

The Scunthorpe Strategic Development Framework (SDF) was produced in 2005 to drive forward developments in Scunthorpe with the aim of transforming the town into a brighter, more sustainable place where people want to live, work and visit.

The SDF has the full support of the Scunthorpe Town Team, Yorkshire Forward and North Lincolnshire Council and its Urban Renaissance Programme.

To help deliver the SDF, £12 million is being invested in Scunthorpe through Yorkshire Forward’s Renaissance Towns and Cities Programme.  This programme aims to support the regeneration of key towns and cities in Yorkshire and Humber by bringing together partners to create a shared vision for the future of their community.

Together, the SDF and the Renaissance Towns and Cities Programme, aims to reposition Scunthorpe over a 10 to 20 year period helping it to become:

  • A more competitive place by developing a well-performing, better balanced and more resilient local economy.

  • A strong hub for the sub-region, which will require a strong Town at its centre.

  • A more attractive place, better capable of retaining and attracting spending, investment and skilled and talented people.

  • A distinctive destination through physical change, improved management and changed external perception.

  • A more sustainable place, a community in harmony with the environment.

This is being achieved through projects such as:
